Highly-placed sources in the Congress said immediately after the AICC organisational reshuffle on Monday that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s Cabinet was also likely to see a reshuffle consequent to several ministers being given crucial assignments in the team that would take the party into the next general elections.

“A reshuffle is likely in the next few days as several ministers have been given important tasks by the party leadership in the organisation,” the sources said.

While Oscar Fernandes was already holding party position despite being a Union minister, the latest reshuffle sees quite a few ministers being given party responsibilities.
