*Dhoni winning the toss: India's only loss in the tournament came when they were setting a target. By winning the toss for a fifth consecutive time, Dhoni had given the team the option of putting runs on the board in a Cup final, and allowing the pressure of chasing to work on the opposition. Worked beautifully.
*Rohit Sharma’s final flurry: Despite Gautam Gambhir's fluent 75, India had only 130 on the board going into the last two overs. The 20-year-old Mumbaikar danced his way to an unbeaten 30 off just 16 deliveries as 27 came off the final 12 deliveries. The final difference between the two teams -- just five runs.
*Imran’s run-out: The little right-hander has been the only top-order contributor for Pakistan, and began the run chase in blazing fashion, hitting S Sreesanth for two fours and two sixes in the second over of the innings. Robin Uthappa's athletic pick-up and wonderfully accurate throw sent him on his way. The turning point, according to even Shoaib Malik.
*Irfan Pathan’s twin strikes in his final over: Malik and Shahid Afridi are both dangerous strikers of the ball.
Pathan softened Malik up with two dot balls, then elicited a tame catch to mid-wicket off an ambitious pull. Afridi was greeted with a short ball first-up, a wide. The next was pitched up without being full, and did just enough for the cart to end up in long-off's hands.
*Sreesanth’s catch to signal the end: Sreesanth's catch to signal the end: The Kerala pacer had a poor game, going for 44 in his four overs, only partly redeeming himself with a wicket off the last ball of his spell. Hearts aflutter as Misbah-ul-Haq paddle swept Joginder Sharma. Ironically, the most excitable man on the park was the calmest. Job done, title won. Simple as that.
