‘Arrack ban helping IMFL’
Bangalore, dhns: Arrack ban is only benefiting those who are selling Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), the sale of which has shot up considerably in the State, Member of Parliament R L Jalappa said on Monday.
He has, in a release, shown figures of the sale of IMFL in the State to prove his point. In August 2006, 12,54,497 cases of IMFL was sold, whereas in the same month of 2007, 15,77,161 cases worth Rs 227 crore were sold. This is Rs 63.50 crore increase in August 2007 compared to the same month last year, according to his release.
All those who were drinking arrack have now taken to drink IMFL, he said.
