The BJP on Tuesday said it was concerned at the planned “alignment” of the Sethusamudram project on the country’s southern tip but not opposed to the project.
“BJP’s concern is the alignment of the project and the safety of the Ramar Sethu. We are not opposed to the Sethusamudram project,” senior leader Venkiah Naidu told reporters here on Tuesday.
“Why should anyone be oppsosed to the project. We are hurt with the kind of comments that has come from the Congress and its allies,” he added. The BJP has also questioned the DMK’s wisdom in calling a strike on October 1, saying it was akin to undermining the judiciary.
“The matter is sub-judice, how can you call for a strike on such a matter and all the more when you (DMK) are the ruling party,” Naidu said.
Meanwhile, BJP president Rajnath Singh has called a meeting of the party’s office bearers here on Thursday on the matter following reports of attack on party offices in Tamil Nadu.
