Former President Abdul J Kalam will be in the city on Friday to take part in various programmes. Dr Kalam is on his first visit to the city after laying down office. He will be awarded the Basava Pursakara -2006 by the Kannada and Culture department at Vidhan Soudha.
He will address the National Science Seminar at JN Tata Auditorium. The meet has been organised by the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association. There is an interactive session with students of New Horizon College of Engineering also.
Traffic diversion
In view of the Basava Puraskara-2006 award presentation the Bangalore traffic police will effect restrictions on traffic on the following roads:
*From 4.30pm to 10pm vehicular movement is banned from K R Circle to Police Thimmaiah Circle, on Ambedkar road.
From K R Circle the vehicles can go via Cubban Park and Nrupatunga road. From Police Thimmaiah Circle the vehicles can go via Raj Bhavan and Coffee Board.
BMTC buses moving towards Shivajinagara from Sheshadripur road or Mysore Bank should go via Palace Road - AGS Basaveswara junction-LRDE junction.
The vehicles of the dignitaries to enter the premises via Vidhan Soudha west gate and take turn towards south near Kengal Hanumanthaia statue to park near Vikasa Soudha.
The audience may park vehicles in Cubbon Park, in front of NGO club, near Siddalingaiah circle, at KGID cross in Cubbon Park and at the parking lot in Vikasa Soudha, near Double Road.
