The urban local body election fever is gripping the town as the D-day nears. Congress party is facing a lot of problem this time in ward nos 1, 3, 4, 13 and 19 because of rebel candidates entering the fray. There is a stiff competition between various party candidates in most of the wards. Hence, the money power is expected to play a major role in the elections this year.
With just 48 hours left for the electioneering, the candidates are busy with door-to-door campaigning. The candidates visiting houses with a group of supporters, in various wards of the town are a common sight.

District JD (S) President N Jyothi Reddy, former town municipality president R A Nagaiah, former convenor of Vidhurashwatha Temple N M Ravinarayana Shetty, leaders Anil Kumar, G P Govindappa, Hosur Hari, taluk president Krishnamurthy and others led the JD (S) campaigning.
For Congress, N H Shivashankar Reddy, Block Congress President R Ashok Kumar, former TMC president A N Venugopal, former legislator S V Ashwathnarayana Reddy, former vice president of ZP Rameshkumar and others were in the forefront of electioneering.
For BJP, national executive committee member Mir Bahadur Hussien, district secretary Venkatesh, district treasurer Ramesh Rao, taluk spokesperson N Nagaraja Rao, leaders Muralidhara, Varadaraja Reddy, Ananda Kumar and others campaigned.
