Andhra Can Feed Whole Country
Hyderabad, Sept 17
Andhra Pradesh could produce sufficient foodgrains to feed the whole of India if the Union Government diverted to the State the money she was now spending on importing foodgrains, Mr P Thimma Reddy, State Agriculture Minister, claimed here today.
The State had immense potentialities to step up the food production. He was inaugurating a conference of State Agricultural officers. With adequate investment he said the State could produce foodgrains sufficient to meet the needs of the entire country.
MSEB To Start Work On Monday

The Government of Mysore today announced the constitution of the Mysore State Electricity Board with Mr K Guru Dutt former director of Public Instruction as Chairman. The Board will start functioning with effect from the afternoon of September 30.

AIADMK Wins By Big Margin
Madurai, Sept. 27.
The AIADMK candidate, Mr S T K Jakkayan, won the Lok Sabha by-election from Periakulam in Tamil Nadu tonight with a margin of about 69,000 votes over his nearest DMK rival Mr Cumbum N Ramakrishnan.
When all but the postal votes were counted, Mr Jakkayan had polled about 249,000 votes and Mr Ramakrishnan about 180,000 according to official sources. The remaining 23 candidates including nominees of the Congress(I), Janata Party and CPM were set to lose their deposits.
