Karnataka Police Recruitment and Training wing has become a model to Uttar Pradesh. The State police department is recruiting constables and sub-inspectors on the lines of Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the education department.
Dr D V Guruprasad, ADGP, Police Recruitment and Training wing and his colleague Sunil Agarwal, DIG on Thursday made a presentation to the UP police at Lucknow regarding the method followed by their department for recruiting constables and SIs.
During the regime of Mulyam Singh Yadav as the CM in UP, about 20,000 constables were recruited about two years ago.
Soon after Mayawati became the CM, the recruitment were annulled following allegations of large scale corruption in the recruitment. Mayawati had dismissed nearly 15,000 constables from the service. The UP government is now planning to make fresh recruitment.
Dr Guruprasad said that on an invitation by the UP Home Department, he and his colleague Agarwal made 30 minutes presentation on the transparent method for recruitment in Karnataka. “UP government was very impressed by the method we follow. Officials of UP have said that they too would like to follow the Karnataka model.”
