Prajavani, the sister concern of Deccan Herald, re-launched Karavali, a 6-page supplement at a colourful programme in Mangalore on Thursday evening.
Litterateur Vaidehi released the colour supplement, which will carry news from coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod. Nitte Education Trust Vice-President and Tejasvini President Dr M Shantharam Shetty inaugurated the programme.
In his address, Dr Shantharam Shetty observed that the media should give more emphasis on developmental news rather than glorifying trivial political issues and politicians.
Appreciating Prajavani for its contribution to responsible journalism, Ms Vaidehi said the newspaper has the challenge of maintaining its dignified stand in the present competitive era, and ensuring peace and harmony in coastal area.
In his presidential address, Deccan Herald and Prajavani Editor K N Tilak Kumar highlighted the commitment of the two newspapers towards providing comprehensive and authentic news.
Prajavani Associate Editor R P Jagadeesh, Vice President (Marketing), The Printers (Mysore) Ltd., D B Dutta and Prajavani Mangalore Bureau Chief Balakrishna Puthige were present. A cultural programme was also held.
