63.5 pc polling in Udupi
DH News service, Udupi:
An average 63.5 percentage polling was recorded in Udupi district.

An average 63.5 percentage polling was recorded in Udupi district for the elections to local bodies held on Thursday. Approximately 60 pc polling was recorded in Udupi City Municipal Corporation alone while Kundapur, Saligrama and Karkala town panchayats recorded 66 pc, 63 pc and 65 pc polling respectively.

The response of the voters was cold in the morning. About 25 pc votes were casted in the district by 11 am. However, the scenario later changed. Long queues were visible in front of the polling booths irrespective of age and ability.

The 90 year old litterateur and former Udayavani Editor Bannanje Ramacharya who came to cast his vote accompanied by his family is proof enough for the enthusiasm of the public to vote for their favourite candidates. The polling went on peacefully without any major untoward incidents.
