The countdown for a new City Municipal Council has begun. However,a cursory look into the performance of the previous CMC members, particularly in attending the meetings,  revealed a remarkable achievement by the president of the previous CMC, K K Saroja Bai, belonging to the BJP.

In a period ranging between December 31, 2001 and December 31, 2006, Ms Saroja Bai has not missed even a single meeting!

The above information was made available to Mr G T Ranganath under the Right to Information Act. As per the information provided, out of the 34 meetings held during the five years, that included both extraordinary and general body meetings of the CMC, Ms  Saroja Bai has attended each one of them, followed by Leelavathi and M P Ramesh who have attended 33 meetings.

The dubious distinction of lowest attention has been achieved by Sayyad Yousuf who has attended only 14 meetings. An honorarium of Rs 500 and Rs 300 were provided to the president and vice president along with ambassador cars, telephone facilities and assistants, it has been revealed.
