The Congress has won Pavagada Taluk Panchayat president and vice president election held recently.

Andanapura Lakshminarayan was elected the president while Gangaratnamma became the vice president, according to a statement issued by Returning Officer and Madhugiri Assistant Commissioner Anbukumar.

Lakshminarayan polled 14 votes over rival RC Anjanappa of the JD (S) who secured only eight votes. Vice President Gangaratnamma also polled 14 votes and defeated her rival Akkamma of the JD (S) by the same margin. Tahsildar Eshwaraiah and Taluk Panchayat Chief Election Officer D P Hanumantappa were present.
