All Except Brahmins Are Backward!
Bangalore, Sept 28.

All communities other than Brahmins were classified as “other Backward Classes”, Education Minister V Venkatappa told the Legislative Council today. The Education Minister who was replying to supplementaries on a question regarding the basis of admissions to the engineering college at Hubli denied that the admissions were governed by communal considerations.

Israeli Cabinet Orders Judicial Probe
Jerusalem, Sept. 28.

The Israeli Cabinet today decided to set up a statutory judicial commission of inquiry into the Beirut massacre of Palestinian refugees. Energy Minister Yitzhak Berman said.

He told reporters, that Ministers had decided to launch an investigation under the terms of the 1968 legislation which gives a commission wide powers to subpoena witnesses and order them to testify under oath.
