“For long years, designers have added so much glitz and glitter to a bridal ensemble that she can barely walk to the mandap with kilos of gold zardosi weighing her down," say many brides, "Though traditionally the lehenga or saree are supposed to be full of gold or silver work and weigh a great deal, modern brides prefer to go through their weddings rituals with confidence and energetic movements.  But they also want to look gorgeous!"

For all brides who wish to flaunt their new-age girlie confidence in the coming wedding season, Ravi Bajaj has created his 2007 trousseau collection with an Indo-Western, light weight look with gold encrusted work all over.

"Nothing about this collection is conventional," says Bajaj, "I have given much thought to the personality of the 2007 bride. What today's young woman needs is a light weight ensemble so that she can move around in elegance and freedom. Also, the wedding outfit remains practical and she can wear it on as many occasions later as she wishes, changing the accessories or the top or chunni. My trousseau this year is eclectic in colour, fabric, silhouette and accessories to please every urban bride."

Bajaj's ensembles include lehengas which are designed on the lines of a skirt with constructed tops with tie backs in the Indo-Western style. Brides today need to be comfortable in the Indo Western scenario or in a wedding attended by people from all over the world, says the designer, adding that many weddings now have guests from various countries who come to see Indian weddings and the glamour associated with them. Bajaj has also on offer a saree collection which echoes the same spirit. "The colours too are avant-garde," says the designer, "I have introduced shades of champagne with pink and gold, mauve, beige, gold and ivory, burgundy, rust, royal blue and turquoise. There are combinations of white and gold, pink and peach, mauve and green too. The ensembles are decorated with net shadowing, sequins, jacquards with accessories highlights the motifs.

Each outfit is a masterpiece and one of a kind so that each bride feels herself to be a unique modern personality on her special day."

Ravi Bajaj also offers bridegrooms of the 2007 season sherwanis, kurtas and bandgalas with ornamental buttons and a feel of luxury to match the bridal ensembles. "Elegance and ease of movement are the themes for this year's bridal clothes. This is a sure recognition of the freedom of movement that the new Indian woman wants even on her wedding day," says he.
