Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman B K Chandrashekar has been elected as India’s Representative to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).
He was elected to the post at the General Assembly of CPA’s 53rd Conference held here on Friday. He will be India’s representative for CPA for a period of three years. Elated with his election to the CPA as India’s representative, Chandrashekar from New Delhi said, it is a matter of honour for him.
I am grateful to the Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and other parliamentarians besides the speaker of West Bengal assembly H A Haleem.
He said an MP is also have been selected as the secretary general of the common wealth. He this has given him an opportunity to discuss issues pertaining to democracy and represent all the legislatures of the country including India.
