Sounding optimistic of resolving the political crisis in Karnataka, BJP President Rajnath Singh said here on Friday that the transfer of power in the State would be a smooth affair.
He was speaking to the media after inaugurating the two day national convention of BJP Yuva Morcha here.
He expressed hopes that Chief Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Kumaraswamy would hand over the charge of government to BJP on October 3 as per the agreement.
When asked about former prime minister and senior JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda’s view on the issue of transfer of power, Mr Singh said he was not against it. The matter would be resolved through dialogue. BJP incharge of Karnataka affairs, Yashwant Sinha, would visit Bangalore to hold talks with the party there.
Replying to a query, Rajnath Singh said the possibility of early elections could not be ruled out.
Sethu: Not for polls
Denying that Rama or Ramar Sethu would be BJP’s poll plank, he said his party would go to the polls on the issue of internal security, skyrocketing prices, UPA’s policy of minority appeasement and indecisiveness on issues of vital importance. “Rama is not an election issue for BJP, it’s a national issue for the party,” he stated.
