A petition was moved against the release of Kannada movie Agrahara, which hit the screen on Friday.
Petitioner K Sunil, a resident of Basaveshwaranagar, said ‘Agrahara’ was based on his life as per reports in two tabloids, and as per a statement filed by the movie director before State Women’s Commission. But neither the producer nor the director had taken his consent for filming the same, he said.
Justice Mohan Shantangoudar ordered issue of notices to CBFC, producer Jagannath, financier Gajendra, director Akshay, distributor Ramu Enterprises, Prasad Laboratories and Dhananjay Kundapur. Hearing was adjourned to October 9.
Nod for meet
The court on Friday permitted swimmer Prakyath P Raj from Mangalore to participate in the national-level swimming meet beginning in Mysore on Saturday following his plea against non-selection.
Proceedings stayed
The court stayed proceedings initiated before a city magistrate against India Hotels CMD Ratan Tata and administrators of Taj Residency. Justice Ramesh stayed further proceedings upon a complaint filed by S Muniswami who had alleged the hotel had not reinstated him as per tribunal order.
Life term
The court confirmed the life sentence imposed on a man who had killed his grandmother. Sridhar, a resident of Cubbonpet here used to pester his grandmother, Bhagyamma for money. On November 27, 2002, he killed her.
