BJP Vice-President Yashwant Sinha arrived here on Friday evening in a bid to find solution to power transfer tangle in the State.
Mr Sinha, who is also in-charge of the party affairs in Karnataka, avoided the media at the airport and stayed at an undisclosed location.
Though Health Minister R Ashok confirmed his arrival, he did not divulge where he was staying.
According to party sources, soon after he arrived, Mr Sinha held initial round of talks with Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and State Party President Sadananda Gowda. The State leaders are learnt to have apprised him of the current political situation.
He is likely to meet JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda on Saturday. Before that, Mr Sinha will meet top leaders of State party unit and arrive at a solution to the crisis, sources said.
It is learnt the party has directed Tourism Minister B Sriramulu to take part in the meeting.
Mr Gowda called off parleys with the party’s national leaders on Thursday on power transfer and set a pre-condition for resuming talks stating BJP should create a “congenial atmosphere” for negotiations. However, Mr Gowda had pulled out of power transfer negotiations after Mr Sriramulu filed an ‘attempt to murder’ complaint against his son, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, in Bellary.
