METRO NOTES

Power shutdown today
There will be no power supply on September 30 from 10 am to 4 pm in Kaverinagar, Vidhana Soudha, parts of III Phase PIA.

AoL workshops from Oct 1

Day-long seminar on Oct 2
Regional Resource Centre of National School of Drama in association with Samudaya, a theatre group, is holding a day-long seminar on Mahatma Gandhi and theatre at Dr H N Kalakshetra, Jayanagar on October 2 at 11 am. It will be followed by the staging of Hindi version of P Lankesh’s play ‘Teregalu’ at 4 pm. Call: 2229 1999.

Silver Jubilee celebrations
Koravanji - Aparanji Trust in association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is holding silver jubilee celebrations of Aparanji, Kannada magazine at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on October 2 at 10 am. Writer Dr Chandrashekhar Kambar, theatre personality B Jayashree, others will take part.

BBMP inspections
After a spate of complaints against lack of cleanliness in hotels and restaurants, the BBMP Health department is conducting intensive inspections, including that of star hotels. There have also been complaints about some hotels serving food on footpaths, causing inconvenience to the public. The department has requested the managements and the general public to co-operate with them.

Closure of kalyan mantap
BBMP Administrator Dilip Rau has ordered closure of Balaji Kalyan Mantap in MSR Nagar, in Malleswaram, on complaints of unhygienic conditions in its premises. Mr Rau gave this direction at the public grievances meeting held at the office of the BBMP (West) zone in Malleshwaram recently. The administrator also asked the officers to clear encroached sidewalks on Malleswaram, 4th cross, S K Garden, RMV 2nd stage and other areas.

Programme on organic food

Jaivika Krishika Samaja in association with Lalbagh Walkers Association is conducting an awareness programme on organic food for health on September 30 at Horticulture Information Centre near Lalbagh Siddapur Gate. For details call 6562 4197.

President elected
MLA J Suneetha Veerappagowda has been elected as the president of Karnataka Rajya Mahila Sahakara Mahamandala. Ms Susheela Devaraj has been elected as the vice-president.
