The election to the second term of the president and vice president of all panchayats was held as per schedule. However, it was postponed for an indefinite period in Goni Tumkur.

It has been reported that during scrutiny of the nominations filed, discrepancies were found in the names of some proposers. This led to heated arguements between candidates of various parties who thos e nominations to be rejected. A scuffle ensued and in the melee, several nomination papers kept on the table were reportedly torn. The returning officer immediately postponed the election, it is learnt.
