Counting to begin at 8 am
Pavagada, dhns: The counting of votes in the polls held to the Town Municipal Council on September 28 will commence at 8 am in the Government Junior College building, according to Returning Officer Eshwarappa.
Adequate arrangements have been made for the process and tight security has also been provided to ensure that there is no disruption. Only those who have identity cards on their person will be allowed inside the premises, Eshwarappa said and requested general public and political parties to co-operate.
TMC result by evening
Gubbi, dhns: The counting for the polls held to the 17 wards of the TMC will begin at 8 am today at the Government First Grade College, says a release issued by the tahsildar here.
Sale of liquor has been banned for a five km radius around the counting centre from 6 am to 12 noon. Nobody is allowed entry into the centre apart from candidates and their agents. The candidates, agents and officials engaged in counting are banned from bringing their cellphones. Results are expected before evening.
Sports meet for special children
Tumkur, dhns: The Innerwheel Club, Tumkur is conducting a sports meet for mentally retarded children on Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm, states a press release issued by Club president Subhashini Shivakumar.
The meet will be held in the grounds of Helen Keller School, located in Jayanagar East. Parents are also requested to attend and may call Ms Subhashini on 9448213946.
Taluk win championship
Pavagada, dhns: Pavagada taluk has won the overall championship at the district-level sports meet, according to a statement by Taluk Physical Education Officer Shivashankar Naidu.
In the sports meet held at Madhugiri, girls from Kyataganahalli Higher Primary School won the first place in kho kho, Maridasanahalli Higher Primary School and Mangalwad school were the winners in Kabaddi. Y N Hosakote Higher Primary School topped in volleyball.
Pavagada Middle Higher Primary School made it to the top in shot put and discus throw. Students of Maridasanahalli Higher Primary School came first in 100 mts and 200 mts running race, while the boys of Government High School won the throwball competition and Maridasanahalli High School won in Kabaddi.
Shikshana Adalat on Monday
Gubbi, dhns: The Shikshana Adalat programme for the year 2007-08 will be held between October 1 and October 8, says a release by Block Education Officer S Rajkumar. Teachers and general public are requested to file their objections, to Nodal Officer Shadakshari in the said period.
The Education Department has also commenced the transfer process of additional teachers, with the list of teachers published in the BEO Office where objections may be filed. The seniority list of primary school teachers for the purpose of promotion to the headmaster post has been published.Objections may be filed in the BEO’s office.
