Bane Hakku Samrakashana Horata Samiti have called for Kodagu bundh on November 1, for not implementing the withdrawal of a circular on Jamma bane.
Addressing a press meet, former MLA A K Subbaiah said Kodagu Asthitva Horata Samiti will also support the bundh. The future course of the bundh will be decided at a meeting in Bangalore. A huge rally will be organised at Madikeri November 1.
Mr Subbaiah alleged that Chief Minister had agreed to withdraw the circular on Jamma Bane in the Legislative Assembly. However, he has directed the officials not to implement it through phone.
He said “there is a feeling that Kodagu is a colony of Karnataka. If the government considers Kodagu as an integral part of the State, then such situation will not arise. In this background, government has to decide whether Kodagu should be part of Karnataka or not.”
Mr Subbaiah said the expert committee constituted to solve the confusion over Jamma Bane issue is meaningless.
He urged the government to constitute a separate committee for the Jamma Bane issue.
Though Chief Minister had assured not to implement Greater Talacauvery wildlife project, sources have informed that government has given its nod for the project and the proposal has been sent to the Central government for the approval.
‘Pseudo environmentalists’ are working towards the implementation of the project, he added.
He said “environmentalists are interested in foreign money flowing into the country and not in the environment. People can not live peacefully in Kodagu unless these environmentalists are externated from the district,” he added.
“Jamma Bane confusion has risen due to JD(S). BJP ministers are helpless. The issue might be solved if BJP comes to power,”
