The fate of the candidates who have contested for the eight urban local bodies (ULBs) of Chikmagalur district will be decided on Sunday. The counting will be held in taluk centres and the district administration has trained 592 personnel for the purpose.
The counting for Chikmagalur CMC will be held at IDSG College premises. Other counting centres are Tarikere Boys Government College, Koppa Government PU College, Mudigere and Sringeri taluk office and NR Pura panchayat premises.
District administration has clamped prohibitory orders around the counting centres in Chikmagalur, Mudigere, Koppa, Sringeri, Narasimharajapura, Kadur, Birur, Tarikere.
According to Karnataka Police Act 1963 column 35 (3), crackers can not be burst in the vicinity. In addition, neither traffic can be disrupted nor procession can be taken out.
Liquor has been prohibited within 8 kms radius of Chikmagalur CMC limits, Kadur, Birur, Tarikere, Narasimharajapura, Koppa, Sringeri, Mudigere town panchayat limits. The use of mobile phones have also been banned inside the counting centres. The movement of vehicles in Chikmagalur-Kadur road is being banned owing to the counting of ballot papers at IDSG Government College. All the vehicles have to pass through Hiremagalur bypass road, according to a press release.
