Nigil Raj stars in MEG’s victory

Skipper Nigil Raj pumped in three goals (8th, 25th and 39th) as Madras Engineer Group and Centre crushed Department of Youth Services and Sports 5-0 in the Super Division football league at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Sunday.

Girish (21st) and Ramu (35th) scored the other two goals for the Sappers.

With this victory, the MEG have 11 points from five outings, while DYSS are yet to open their account after losing all the five games played.

Meanwhile, South Western Railway defeated Sri Gajanana beat the odd goal in three in the ‘A’ Division tie. Sri Gajanana took the lead through Harish in the 30th minute. Dinesh helped SWR draw level in the 39th minute before Vinod netted the winner in the 59th minute.

Bhaskar wins billiards title

B Bhaskar beat Duncan Mackenzie 4-1 to win the 38th Senior-State ranking billiards tournament at the KSBA hall on Saturday.
