The elections to the urban local bodies which went to polls on Friday saw an average voter turn out of 67 per cent, according to the State Election Commissioner M R Hegde.
However, on Saturday he said that the voters this time had responded enthusiastically to the polls. He said Belgaum topped the list with 71.29 per cent voting. This was followed by Chamarajanagar with 70.92 per cent, Bangalore rural with 69.34, Dharwad with 68.10, Haveri with 68.05, Hassan with 66.73 and Gadag with 66.53 per cent.
Some of the districts which recorded low turn out of voters are Mysore with 52.82 per cent, Shimoga with 54.85 per cent, Davangere with 55. 52, Bidar with 56.85, Raichur with 58.52, Gulbarga with 57.80, Kodagu with 59.06, and Tumkur with 59.58 per cent.
