The residents of Kambibane region near Anekadu and Meenukolli reserve forest area have demanded the forest officials to take up measures to protect the residents from wild elephant attacks, which has grown to be severe off late in the region.
A public contact meet was organised on Sunday at Kambibane Subhash Yuvaka Sangha premises by Suntikoppa Police under the presidentship of Zilla Panchayat member A Lokesh Kumar. During the meet the residents said that in the past 10-15 days the tusker menace has intensified and hence there is a need to curb this immediately.
They explained that the local residents are petrified to even step out of their house in the evening fearing the attacks. In such a scenario, they urged that Forest officers must conduct a visit to the concerned area and then take immediate actions to avert such attacks. The road left between Kodagarahalli-Kambibane, connecting Chiklihole dam must be repaired, said Lakshminarayana, a resident.
It was resolved at the meeting to submitt a memorandum to Regional Transport Officer demanding for better bus connectivity to various regions for the convenience of the students and coolie workers specifically. Various Gram Panchayat presidents and members from various organisations were present.
