Various political parties and organisations have expressed their support to the bundh call given by the Bhadra Meldande Yojane Virodha Samithi, against the construction of a canal in Tarikere on Monday.

Seers of various mutts have also expressed their support to the bundh. Sri Shaila Mutt Swamiji, Sri Guru Haluswamy Mutt Seer, Sri Vrishabhendra Swamiji have extended their support to stage dharna in front of Chief Minister’s residence on September 10.

Deputy Divisional Officer Dr M T Raju has urged the people to maintain peace during bundh.  MLA T H Shivashankarappa said “it is the duty of every citizen to protest against the Upper Bhadra Project.” He called upon the traders to shut their business establishments and schools and colleges to remain closed.
