Stany G A of Shimoga and Bangalore’s Veena N emerged boys’ and girls’ champions respectively in the State under-19 chess championship at the State Youth Centre here on Sunday.
Stany, in the seventh and final round, got the better of Balkishan A for an all-win record. He finished ahead of Darshan V P S who managed six points. P P Prachura claimed the third spot with 5.5 points.
In the girls’ section, Veena defeated former state champion Shruthi K in the final round and bagged the title edging Mangalore’s Manasa K. Pavitra Jagatap took the third spot.
