Ashwini Ponnappa won four titles at the State badminton championships at the Ullal Srinivas  Mallya indoor stadium here on Sunday.

Ashwini beat another Bangalorean Ruth Misha to lift the under-19 girls’ title and teamed up with Nitya Sosale to grab the doubles titles in both the women’s and under-19 categories.  She combined with Vineeth Manuel to secure the mixed doubles title.

Ashwini had things her way in the under-19 final, posting a 21-15, 21-13 victory over Ruth, the winner of the women’s singles title.

Ashwini’s toughest challenge came in the women’s doubles event, where she and partner Nithya Sosale had to battle hard before prevailing 21-10, 18-21, 21-16 over Varsha V B and G M Nischitha. Meanwhile, V Amar claimed the men’s singles title, beating Mohit Kamath 25-23, 21-18.
