For the last few days, miscreants residing in and around Venkatapura in Madiwala police station limits have been trying to create confusion in the minds of people in an attempt to pressurise KSRP Commandant to donate land for constructing a throughfare.
These miscreants have been calling up media houses too in this connection.
BDA acquired 170 acres of land for KSRP in 1965. Subsequently, Venkatapura Panchayat approached KSRP and asked for an alternative route.
Responding to their plea, KSRP shelled out Rs 40,000 and helped construct two alternative roads - Venkatapura main road connecting Sarjapura main road and Teachers' Road connecting Ring Road.
Sources told Deccan Herald: "When the State armoury is based in the KSRP premises, it is ridiculous to give land for a throughfare.”
According to intelligence reports, some commercial establishments in Venkatapura, especially bars, restaurants and eateries, were behind the spreading of rumour. They feel once a throughfare is constructed, their business would improve.
