6-lane road plan
Public Works Department Minister H D Revanna on Monday said the road connecting K R Puram and Mulbagal via Hoskote will be widened. The stretch between K R Puram and Hoskote will be converted into a six-lane road and the remaining stretch developed as four-lane. Revanna said the road-widening work will be started within two months.

Mom with Sabeel
Dr Sabeel Ahmed’s mother Dr Zakia Ahmed is likely to be with her son during his trial in the UK on September 10. “She applied for the visa 15 days ago. She is yet to hear from the British Embassy,” said a senior police officer. 

Vatal delays train
The Mysore-bound Shatabdi Express was delayed for ten minutes after MLA Vatal Nagaraj and his supporters staged a dharna in front of the train on Monday. The MLA had organised a public meeting at the railway station demanding jobs for Kannadigas in South Western Railways. The Railway authorities called the Bangalore police along with officials of Government Railway Police to control the situation.

Global conference
IKONE 2007, an international conference on ‘Future of Knowledge Organisation in the Networked Environment’, organised by DRTC Bangalore as part of the platinum jubilee celebration of Indian Statistical Institute, was inaugurated on Monday. IISc Director P Balaram said there are a large number of people who are unable to access technologies. Therefore, technologies should be readily available so they can be accessed easily, he felt.

Science festival
The Science fraternity of Christ College is holding the annual inter-collegiate Science Fest-07, hosted for the students of science stream, from September 4 to 7. The fest provides a forum for 50 colleges in and around the City.

Kitchen exibition
Yatra Exhibits Private Limited will organise Kitchen Yatra 2007 at Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium from September 6 to 9. The exhibition will feature a number of products from abroad including Europlak Cucine and Berloni Kitchens from Italy along with reputed Indian products.

Library festival
Bookmark 07, the annual library festival of Christ College, will be held on September 6, 7 and 8. This year, 15 publishers will showcase their works at the festival.

Last rites held
The final rites of S Krishna Murthy, director (publicity and public relations), ISRO who succumbed to injuries in Tirupati, was held on Monday. Senior ISRO officials, including Chairman G Madhavan Nair, paid their last respects to Murthy.
