The government has been urged to consider the post of village assistants, who have been rendering service in the taluks with minimum wages for over 10 years, as permanent employees and to include them under Group D category.
The village assistants who have given a written request in this regard, have been rendering sincere service in various circles in the different hoblis of taluks since generations and have been working for more than 18 hours while on duty.
They informed that they hand over notices to people concerned after covering over 10 kms distance, recover taxes and help in the functioning of the Revenue Department.
Hence, a request has been made that the village assistants must be considered as Group D workers, they reasoned.
