The Deputy Commissioner of newly-formed Chickballapur district Subodh Yadav on Monday held an officers’ meeting at the taluk office here.
The DC, who visited the taluk for the first time after the formation of the new district, asked the officers to give factual reports and said, the development of the area depended entirely on the reports given by the officers. Hence, he asked the officers to take it seriously.
The Block Education Officer Manjunath, while presenting the report, said many of the schools in the taluk have toilets, but there are no water connection. Hence, the schoolchildren are being forced to bring water to clean the toilets. The DC took strong objection to making the children bring water. He also ordered the Taluk Panchayat CEO to take immediate action.
The DC, who collected the report on drinking water supply in the taluk, posed several questions to ZP Assistant Executive Engineer Nagappa.
Disappointed by the answer given by the officer, the DC asked him not to give six-month old facts and figures. He questioned how money was released to the contractor if there was no water in the borewell.
He also directed officers to make arrangements to supply clean drinking water to areas affected by flouride content in water.
