Famine stalks Bijapur, Bellary

From Our Correspondents
Bijapur, Sept 3
The outlook appears very bleak for farmers in the district. On one acre is the sown kharif crop almost dying due to lack of rains, while on the other hand, sowing of the major rabi crop will have to be postponed again due to lack of rains. For the past 50 days, the entire district has not received a single drop of rain. Most of the villages are facing scarcity of drinking water.
