Archan 'tricks for KSP
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Powered by a three-goal effort from Archan, Karnataka State Police (KSP) outclassed Royals Football Club 5-0 in the BDFA’s Super Division football league here on Monday.

Archan struck twice in the first half as KSP enjoyed a 2-0 lead at the break. The Policemen were in complete control in the second session too, netting three more goals to complete the Royals rout.

On a soggy Bangalore Football Stadium turf, KSP wrested control very early, with Arun Kumar troubling the Royals defence with his speed down the left flank. In the middle, veteran Sampath Kumar controlled the proceedings well and his experience and skill were responsible for both the KSP goals in the first half.

In the 11th minute, Sampath chipped the ball into the Royals penalty area and it came off the outstretched foot of a defender. Archan, on the right, ran forward to take control and beat goalkeeper Anish with a firm shot.

Sampath then set up the second goal with a fierce shot from 30 yards out that was only blocked by Anish. Archan pounced on the rebound for an easy kill.

Royals were just not able to make an impact on the Police defence and in the second half, they were hardly in the picture. At the other end, KSP were kept at bay by Anish, who came up with a couple of smart saves before he was let down by the defenders once again, in the 48th minute.

Archan turned provider this time, moving up the left flank and crossing for Karthigen to tap in for the third goal.

Anish’s vigil cracked in the 64th minute when Karthik sent in a cross from the right. He palmed it to the path of the onrushing Archan, who made no mistake. A tired Royals outfit had one more blow waiting for them in injury time, with Sendhil Kumar smashing in the fifth goal.

The ‘A’ Division match between Reserve Bank of India and South Western Railway Institute ended goalless. Tuesday’s matches: BUFC vs Govt Press (A Division, 1.45 pm), Postal vs SAI (Super Division, 3.45 pm).
