Karun Nair continued his rich vein of form by notching up another ton as President’s XI declared their first innings at 350 for six on the opening day of their two-day match against Tumkur Zone in the KSCA inter-zonal under-19 cricket tournament here on Monday.
Nair hammered 129 off 178 balls with the help of 18 hits to the fence to top-score in President’s innings. Arjun Hoysala was the second highest run-getter with 89 (139b, 15x4) while Nishanth Hegde remained unbeaten on 53. Tumkur, in reply, were 24 for one after 11 overs.
Barring the match between President’s and Tumkur — that was dominated by the batsmen — bowlers called the shots in the other three matches of the day. Ravindra Rawat (5/57) and Shamik (3/32) shared the bowling spoils to help Dharwad Zone restrict Mangalore Zone to 133 in 73.4 overs.
