Krishna Janmashtami celebrated with fervour
DH News Service, Bangalore:

In keeping with the tradition, Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated on Tuesday, in a grand way across the City with religious fervour and gaiety.

Children dressed like Radha and Krishna re-enacted the Lord’s plays at several temples in the City.

The week-long preparations and celebrations in Krishna temples in the City culminated on Tuesday.

At the century-old Sri Venugopala Krishnaswamy temple, Malleswaram, the main function started in the afternoon with Mahaabhishekam to the main deity. It was followed by Mahaamangalarathi in the evening.

Navaneetha Abhisheka to the Lord in the midnight was the highlight of the festivities and hundreds of devotees queued up at the temple for having a darshan of Lord Krishna.

At the ISKCON Temple, devotees thronged in large numbers for darshan of Lord Krishna. A chain of events were organised here, beginning from Mahaamangalarathi to Jhulan ceremony, in which Krishna’s idol was placed on a swing. In the night grand Abhishek was performed, which was followed by a musical concert.

The Udupi Krishna temple management had organised a function at the Central prison at Parappana Agrahara  for the inmates.
