City Crime Branch police have arrested one more person in the Chemmanur Jewellery robbery case, on Tuesday. Manish Shetty was arrested in Mysore on Tuesday evening.
The CCB sleuths picked Manish from a bar and restaurant in front of the suburban bus stand. At the time of arrest, Manish was seen with another person.
Sources said, Manish was striking a deal with another man who had come to buy gold. The police have also seized around 3 kgs of gold and the car used in the crime.
Till now, seven people are in police custody in this connection and around 29 kgs of gold has been recovered.
Sources said, the gang consisted of 22-members, including seven women. Hunt is on for the other missing gang members.
Earlier, Mangalore police arrested Umesh Shetty in Mudabidri in Dakshina Kannada district. Umesh was picked up in connection with the Subba Reddy’s murder case and confessed to the jewellery robbery case.
On August 10, one of the Chemmanur Jewellers outlets in Kammanahalli was targeted by a high-flying gang and they looted Rs 3.5 crore worth gold jewellery and Rs 3 lakh in cash.
