The selection for district Best Teacher award has run into rough weather with the Hittalapura Junior Primary school, development committee president, members and villagers alleging that the Kunigal taluk teachers have been given a raw deal by selecting ineligible candidates for the award.
In a press statement issued on Monday here, they have alleged that Hittalapura government junior primary school teacher Siddaramaiah has lent dedicated service to the school since 1985 and has been conferred several awards and has even managed to collect Rs 1,62,000 as donations from various sources for the betterment of the school.
He has held a cordial relationship with the people of this region for the past 23 years and is retiring in 2 years from now. He was nominated previous year also and lost it in the final stage.
This year a 5 member committee comprising of Block Education officer, president of primary teachers association president and secretary, BRC and high school teachers association president inspected the school and his works and accorded highest marks.
Though Siddaramaiah stands top he has been sidelined due to political pressure and a teacher who stood third in the marks cadre has been awarded the Best Teacher award, they alleged.
The protesters have appealed for reconsideration and confer the award to the eligible teacher, the release said.
