Opposing the nuclear deal and joint military exercise between India and America, the Left Party members and Leftist thinkers staged a protest by forming a human chain, near Independence Square, here on Tuesday.

CPI, CPM, AITUC, CITU, Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha, Slum Dwellers Hitarakshana Samiti and other organisations, strongly opposed the move and demanded that it should not be signed.

“Not many people are understanding why there is so much significance attached to the nuclear deal between US and India. Some who have understood the hidden agenda behind this do not want it to be exposed or debated.

India which is following non-alignment policy will become a stooge of imperialistic America,” said the agitators expressing their ire.

“ According to the Hyde Act, Indian foreign policy and US foreign policy should move together.  In the name of controlling terror, India should support America for producing nuclear bombs. This in short is the the gist of the agreement. Such an agreement is completely inimical to the nation’s interest and India should protest it,” said the agitators.

Syed Mujeeb, B Umesh, Gangadhar, Syed Altaf, A Narasimhamurthy, N K Subramanya, Ramesh and other leaders participated in the protest.
