Opposing the proposal to provide reservation to dalits converting to Christianity, the District BJP SC/ST Morcha members staged a protest in front of the DC office, here on Tuesday.

The Centre was looking into the proposal of providing reservation and this is not a good idea in any way, felt the agitators.

Already many dalits are facing the problems because they are not getting the facilities provided by the government. Many have also been deprived of what they should legitimately get. When this is the situation, then providing facilities to those dalits converting to Christianity will be a social injustice, they said.

The whole dalit community will be put to lot of trouble because of this step. Hence such a step should be dropped. Otherwise in the coming days the agitation will be intensified, they warned.

BJP SC/ST Morcha president Gangaraju, Weavers’ Corporation chairman M D Lakshminarayan, C V Mahadevaiah, TP president N Narasimhamurthy and others participated.
