The Temple Town of Udupi witnessed the significant Krishna Janmashtami celebration on Tuesday that attracted thousands of devotees to the historically significant Shree Krishna Temple.
The devotees observed a fast on Tuesday and involved themselves into singing Bhajans in praise of Lord Krishna. An ‘Akhanda Bhajan’ and ‘Vishesha Alankar’ was held at Madhwa Mantapa of the Mutt. Akhanda Bhajan was inaugurated by Kaniyur Mutt pontiff Vidyavallabha Theertha Swamiji. The Bhajan wound up at mid night after Paryaya Swamiji offering prayer to Moon.
Under the leadership of Prayaya Krishnapura Swamiji several religious programmes were held. On Wednesday, mass meal will be served to the devotees.
On Wednesday, the city will be coloured with Krishna Leelothsava celebration. Late in the afternoon ‘Vitlapindi’ or ‘Mosaru Kudike’ will be held.
