South Canara district Credit Co-operative (SCDCC) Bank Ltd will lend short term loan to the farmers of undivided Dakshina Kannada district depending on his needs in spite of the government failing to pay the amount for waiving off loan and interest to the bank, said SCDCC Bank Chairman M N Rajendra Kumar.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, he said SCDCC Bank has already lend Rs 229.14 crore loan between April 1 and August 30, 2007. Last year, during the same period, the bank had lent Rs 204.68 crore loan. The bank has lent Rs 24.46 crore more loan this time compared to last year, he said.

He said as per the announcement of the State government, undivided Dakshina Kannada district is entitled to get Rs 105.48 crore from the government from waiving off loan scheme.
Government has released only Rs 20.01 crore. In waiving of interest on the loans borrowed, government has to release Rs 8.93 crore to the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
