The BJP’s pipe dream on power
Sir, NDA’s (read BJP) euphoria over the speculation of a snap poll at the centre is likely to remain a pipe dream after all. They appear to be banking on the withdrawal of Left's support which will reduce the UPA to a minority Government. In the first place, the prospects of the Leftists severing outside support to UPA is unlikely, knowing its past record of barking without biting.
But then BJP is not missing any opportunity to taunt, poke, cajole, ridicule and using all possible tricks of trade to somehow make the break away possible. BJP must be too naive to think that the snap poll is imminent, even if the Left parties decide to withdraw support.
This may at best result in UPA running a minority government as a no-confidence motion will definitely not get the Left support. BJP’s jubilation is too premature even in the scenario of snap poll, in view of old allies drifting and no new ones in sight.

No more secular
Sir, Due to their association with the Sangh parivar, JD(S) has lost its suffix letter S and H D Kumaraswamy is shedding tears for distancing himself from minorities. In order to wipe the tears off his son, Deve Gowda has now appointed Merajuddin Patel as the state president of his party removing M P Praksh who supported the Bajrangdal by withdrawing the criminal cases against them.
Half of the secular hairs on the young head of Kumarswamy have already fallen due to use of “saffron” soap. Now it is difficult to recover the same until unless he applied the secular oil. It is an uphill task for Merajuddin to get oil from the hay stack of JD (S) as it loss the secularity.

Irresponsible act
Sir, The behaviour of Anbumani Ramodoss is appaling. Instead of behaving in a responsible manner befitting a minister, he is letting his ego and stubbornness dictate his actions. He is wholly responsible for throwing the smooth working of AIIMS out of gear, thus in turn making the patients suffer. It's time that the UPA gets rid of this controversial minister.

Good ambience
Sir, The Delhi High Court’s directive to Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramdoss to sign the certificates of AIIMS students within 24 hours has come as a whip of fresh air to the harried students.
It is perhaps unheard in the annals of a reputed institution like the AIIMS that the students are made to wait for a long time for want of Minister’s signature.
It is common knowledge that the Minister and the Director of AIIMS Dr P Venugopal are at loggerheads. Need anybody stress that to keep the wheels of administration run smoothly, good ambience and congenial atmosphere is need of the hour?

Kudos to ISRO
Sir, The successful launch of the GSLV rocket carrying the INSAT payload into orbit is a huge technological leap for the country’s space programme.
An engineering feat of this kind can only be accomplished by a dedicated team of scientists and technocrats, with a huge support team both from the government and private sectors.
It augurs well for the country to have an integrated space programme such as this so as to enable the fruits of space technology reach the common man, be it tele-medicine or telecommunicats or even tele-education. Congrats to all the members in the ISRO team.
