Former model Geetanjali Nagpal, found begging on the streets of the city, has been admitted to the VIMHANS hospital here.
Nagpal, who is under the care of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), was admitted to VIMHANS late Monday night after getting permission from Metropolitan Magistrate at Karkardooma court here.
“She is supposed to appear before the court (on Wednesday), but it is unlikely that she would be able to do so given the state of her health. So the commission will seek more time for her appearance,” DCW Chairperson Barkha Singh said. Doctors at VIMHANS had on Monday diagnosed her as suffering from fear psychosis.
The ex-model was found begging in Hauz Khas by a photojournalist and seemed to have nowhere to go as her family disowned her.
Government agencies floundered in finding a shelter for her and took hours to decide on how to rehabilitate her. Nagpal, 32, once walked the ramp for top designers and was a contemporary of the likes of Bollywood star Sushmita Sen.
