Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, who is contesting for the post of President in the September 9 elections to the Karnataka State Cricket Association, said he stood by his statements made at Monday’s press conference and would only be too pleased to receive the legal notice issued by association secretary Brijesh Patel.
Through a press release issued soon after Patel’s press conference on Tuesday, Wadiyar stated that he stood by the charges he levelled against the ruling combine of the KSCA, contending that the threat of a legal notice was a desperate measure by Patel to divert attention from the fact that he has been thoroughly exposed.
“It has come to my notice that, in response to my statements on the occasion of the release of the booklet ‘Is this Transparency?’ by the Deccan United Cricket Club on Monday questioning Mr Patel and his team about morality of certain business transactions they have had with KSCA as members of the managing committee and various sub committees, they have threatened to file a defamation suit on me claiming damages of Rs 10 crores.
Relevant proof
“In this connection, I would like to state that I stand by my statement reiterating the contents of the booklet released by the DUCC. They have provided relevant documentary pro-of, in the form of copies of certified documents obtained from the Registrar of Companies and other sources for all the information contained in the said booklet.
Surprise
“It is surprising to note that Mr Patel, having openly admitted in the press that he has through his various businesses started after he assumed office as secretary, had done business transactions with KSCA as detailed in the booklet, has blatantly justified his actions,” Wadiyar said, adding that he would give a fitting reply to the notice by Patel as and when it is received.
