Karnataka’s Likitha Shetty ove-rcame Sanjana M Kumar 7-6, 7-6 in the first round of the girls under-14 section of the Good Earth Super Series tennis tournament at the SDAT Tennis stadium here on Tuesday.
In the corresponding boys’ section, Karnataka’s Vinod Gowda had a relatively easy opener against Karan Avlani.
But his Statemate Rohit Gowda was shown the door by Tushar Mandelkar. Gowda went down fighting 1-6, 6-1, 2-6.
In a battle between two Karnataka players in the girls under-16 section, Padma Priya carried far too many guns for Yamini Reddy, prevailing 6-3, 6-3.
