Tara Iyer made a winning start in the $ 100,000 Asian tennis championships in Tashk-ent, scoring a fluent straight-set win in the first round on Tuesday. Seeded sixth, Tara broke little sweat in beating Kyrgyztan’s Bermet Duvanaeva 6-2, 6-0.

In men’s singles, Kar-an Rastogi and Aditya Ma-dkekar were seeded third and eighth respectively while Vivek Shoke-en and Ashutosh Singh came through qualifiers.
