Time with special children an eye-opener: Lokayukta
Bangalore, dhns:

Karnataka Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde took a small break from his work on Tuesday and spent some time with children at Sophia Opportunity School, with his wife Sharada.

“The visit was an eye opener for me. I realised that special children have great abilities and hope in life,” Justice Hegde said. “It was wonderful to see them sing, dance and compere, just like other children,” he added.

He said as a judge in the Supreme Court, he visited over 50 educational institutions in India but this visit, the first one to a school for special children, was the most gratifying and satisfying of the lot.

“I had seen special children on TV only but being with them was an overwhelming experience. If there is something that I can do for these children, I would certainly like to do it,” he said.

Justice Hegde praised the teachers of the Opportunity School and said that “If our political leaders start treating the citizens the way the teachers at the school treat children, this country would be a wonderful place to live,” he added.
