The five accused in the Chemmanur Jewellery robbery case were produced in court on Wednesday.
Umesh Shetty, Gopal Alva, Nandish , Nagaraj and Hemalatha Shetty were remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by magistrate Basavraj.
Sources said if need be they would be taken back for further inquiry. Umesh and Gopal were arrested by Mangalore police, while Nandish and Hemalatha Alwa were caught in Koppa, in Chikmagalur taluk. CCB sleuths arrested Nagaraj in Hassan.
Meanwhile, police remained tight-lipped on the recovery of stolen goods and arrest of Manesh Shetty in Mysore.
The official line is a search is on for Mini Gopal, the driver, Ravi and others.
19 bikes seized, 4 held
Yelahanka police arrested four two-wheeler thieves and recovered 19 two-wheelers from them. The arrested are: Jagadeesh, Murali, Rajesh and Sunil, all from Sidlaghatta.
The total worth of these vehicles is estimated at Rs 13 lakh. Jagadeesh and Murali were arrested near BDA complex in Yelahanka. During interrogation, they admitted their gang used to steal two-wheelers.
2 held for theft
Cubbon Park police arrested two persons for stealing two-wheelers. K P Ganesh of Soraba and Patresh Kumar of Bhadravathi were arrested near Wilson Garden.
House burgled
Valuables worth Rs 1.5 lakh were stolen from a house in Doddamavalli on Tuesday night.
According to Kalasipalya police, miscreants had gained entry into the house by breaking open the main door.
No one was at home when the incident occurred.
Bomb hoax
Tension prevailed for a while in Hasanath Engineering College in Hennur on Wednesday after the college authorities received a phone call saying a bomb had been planted in the college.
Police, who rushed to the college with sniffer dogs, found the call was a hoax.
